According to Medicinenet.com, the definition of a chronic disease is a disease that persists for a long time. A chronic disease is one lasting 3 months or more, by the definition of the U.S. National Center for Health Statistics. Chronic diseases generally cannot be prevented by vaccines or cured by medication, nor do they just disappear.
The only constant is change. It sounds simple enough, but it can be very heavy. It’s not something you want to think about when it comes to physical and mental health. Having a chronic illness is hard on your body and mind. It effects over 86% of the population in the United States alone. When you’re asked how do you feel, do you think about physical or emotional pain? It has become a force of habit for me to do a self check mentally, when I feel as if I am unable to go on physically.
My blog is like a physical and a mental check in for all of my readers. It is very overwhelming when dealing with chronic issues. Come to my blog and laugh, cry and discuss our ever changing lives that is shaped by an illness we are unable to control. While I always try to put my best foot forward and make it a great, it does not always happen. I am not always my best, but I do the best I can. Most days I am just “okay”.
